Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Hot to reduce my footprint

loueh

I used the calculator to calculate my carbon footprint and it’s quite low, my highest carbon footprint is in the Home Energy & Appliances category and I guess it’s because I burn wood to heat my house. I can reduce my carbon footprint in this category for example using my computer and  other devices less and I can start  using recycled paper for the printer.
In the other categories my carbon footprint is lower than my region average but I can reduce it more anyway.
I really  want to change some of my behaviours for the sake of the environment, such as prefering going somewhere by bike or on foot to pollute less or buying locally grown food more often for the same reason.
I’m going to pay  more attention to my behaviour in general, turning the lights off  when I leave a room or recycling shopping bags.
