Family Footprints
While calculating my family's footprint I noticed that I had a large part of my Co2 emissions come from food and food waste. This surprised me because I thought my family was pretty good at making sure what we ate was good for the environment. But I forgot to consider one factor, transportation. Many foods we eat say they are organic or sustainably sourced, but this doesn't cover transportation. Much of over food, like fish, can travel over long distances to end up in supermarkets and our houses. From this I learned that I can do more to ensure my food is better for the environment, that I should be looking for locally sourced foods in addition to organic.
