What's in an Engine &
Why? |
Ductile iron is in the gray cast iron family. Where the gray iron
contains large flake like graphite particles the ductile iron contains
spherelike graphite particles. The tensile strength of ductile iron ranges
from 380 to 480 MPa or 50 - 70 ksi. The microstructure of ductile iron is
either peralite or ferrite, depending on the heat treatment. |
