Otobase Server

Otobase is a flexible solution that can be used over a network so multiple users can access the same data file. The Otobase Server contains all the features of the standard version of Otobase but also allows you to run the program in a client-server environment. Therefore, if you install the Otobase Server, you do not have to install the standard version of Otobase.

Otobase Server works in conjunction with a program called 4D Server, available from 4D Inc. (www.4d.com). Prior to using Otobase Server, you must first obtain and install some supporting 4D Server files. 4D Server is cross-platform, which means you can install the server on either a Windows or Macintosh and it will easily communicate with clients on both operating systems.

The installation and configuration of the server should be performed by a network administrator. Keep in mind that a user who has administrator privileges for a machine or a network is not necessarily the same person as the Otobase administrator.
