- Among adults in a prospective cohort study in Changsha, China, the mean daily steps taken dropped and the prevalence of low daily steps increased from 3% to 18.5% in the 30 days following the first local COVID-19 diagnosis. These changes were especially pronounced for women and older adults. The authors suggest that while these data could point to successful physical distancing practices to contain the epidemic, they also raise concerns about unintended effects on physical activity.
