Melissa Lacey, newly minted PhD, successfully defended her dissertation on Wednesday. Melissa’s work focused on the function of leaf shape – namely, leaf toothiness! She measured several physiological aspects of function in toothed and non-toothed tomato leaf ‘edges’, both in UW and UCLA greenhouses, to explore the costs and benefits of leaf teeth.
