The work of UW AAUP Board members provides a vital service to the The American Association of University Professors (AAUP), a national organization defined by its principled commitment to academic freedom, expressed through a range of advocacy work around higher education. University-specific chapters, such as our own, participate in the larger mission of the national organization, even as we center our advocacy work locally, on our own campuses. Elected membership on the UW AAUP Executive Board members should therefore be understood as both a form of professional and university service. The general expectations for faculty serving on the Board are enumerated in UW AAUP’s by-laws, which are available on our website. Typically, university faculty and administration recognize the value of our Board members’ service and acknowledge this work as a factor in considering their overall merit.
If you would like to serve on the board, please contact our chapter president to explore your interests.
