Anand Sekar

Anand graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s in computer engineering at UW, working with the Reality Lab, Restorative Technologies Lab, and Sensor Systems Lab; he then graduated in 2021 with a master’s in computer science at UW, working with the Ubiquitous Computing Lab. A month later, he joined the UW APL OPAL team as a software engineer, starting by evaluating stereoscopic sensors.
Through competing in robotics during high school and early college (FRC & NASA RMC), Anand learned the difficulties of teleoperation and automation first-hand, and has been driven to work on systems hands-on and holistically. Since learning more about neural networks, he’s been curious about how to push the capability and efficiency of computer perception, especially within hardware limitations.
