Description

To develop and pilot a culturally appropriate model to train primary care providers (PCPs) to gain competencies to deliver high-quality mental health care in a primary care hospital in a rural district in Nepal.
We will use remote technology-based (online video lectures for skill acquisition) and on-site training (for skills and attitude change) to improve mental health competencies among primary care providers. Our prior study had found low levels of prior mental health training among PCPs in the region, resulting in low-quality mental health services. PCP competencies will be assessed by pre- and post-tests, alongside focus group discussions and key informant interviews.
