Eligibility

PREP is aimed at underrepresented, underprivileged, and disabled students who recently graduated with a scientific baccalaureate degree and who have a strong interest in pursuing a graduate degree in biomedical doctoral programs (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) Particularly suitable candidates would be students who:

  • may not have the necessary laboratory experience
  • may have decided late in their undergraduate career to pursue a career in the biomedical field
  • may need additional upper-level coursework to strengthen their applications for graduate school

Trainee profile

  • individuals who are US citizens or hold permanent resident status
  • members of groups underrepresented in biomedical sciences, including economically disadvantaged students and those with disabilities
  • students who lack substantial research experience
  • GPA of at least 3.0 (exceptions apply on a case-by-case basis)
