The University of Washington Academic Medical Center (UW AMC) includes the UW School of Medicine, UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, UW Physicians, UW Physicians Neighborhood Clinics, and the UWs membership in the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the Childrens University Medical Group.
The UW AMC has major academic and service affiliations with the Childrens Hospital and Regional Medical Center, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the Veterans Administration Medical Centers in Seattle and Boise.
The UW School of Medicine is consistently among the top five recipients of federal funding for biomedical research, and is a national leader in training primary-care providers for rural and other medically underserved areas. The medical school has 1,600 regular faculty members. An additional 4,100 volunteers and part-time clinical faculty members teach students in towns and cities across the WWAMI region of Washington state, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho.
