PAY: $ 14.20/hr DOE
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position assists residents in dealing with behavioral and health barriers to eliminating insect infestations by providing technical and emotional support. The Advocate works closely with residents, identifying housekeeping problems, and assists them in developing skills for staying in compliance with lease obligations. The position reports to the Facilities Manager and works closely with the Resident Services Manager to implement and maintain a program of systematic assessment of and response to any level of insect infestation in the building.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
2. Coordinate the preparation and distribution of 48 hour entry notices for all routine inspections, re-inspections, treatment visits and canine inspections.
3. Provide information and support to residents to increase their understanding of the activity required to manage bedbugs.
Work with RSM on supporting individual residents with reaching goals identified on their housing service plans when it relates to health and safety issues.
4. Assist residents in preparing their units for bedbug treatment: laundry, sorting and disposal of unnecessary clothes and clutter.
5. Steam furniture and fixtures as necessary.
6. Plan and track treatment of items by freezing or use of no pest strip.
7. Assist residents in wrapping and disposing of bedbug infested furniture as necessary.
8. Keep records of all pest control inspections, professional treatments, staff treatments and tenant activity supported by staff.
9. Maintain and distribute list of residents with health and safety concerns to service staff for follow up.
General Responsibilities:
This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there will be exposure to bedbugs. There may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material. Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance, building temperature fluctuations, dust, noise, and odors. Other working conditions may include frequent interruptions, interactions with angry persons, and exposure to computer CRTs.

1. Two years college level studies in social services or related field.
