P.E.O. Chapter JK in Washington is a women’s organization that celebrates women’s advancement by providing substantial merit-based awards for women of the U.S. and Canada pursuing doctoral-level degrees at an accredited college or university. The maximum award amount is $25,000.
Submit a Potential Applicant Form as soon as possible for consideration by the Local Chapter JK for sponsorship. The Chapter must submit nominations by November 20.
P.E.O also offers the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship of up to $12,500 for women from outside the U.S. and Canada. Applications due December 15.

Hello Huskies! See below for a list of scholarships from Soroptimist Seattle-Metropolitan. Soroptimist Seattle-Metropolitan is a group of dedicated volunteers in a global network organization that provides women and girls with access to the education, training, and support they need to achieve economic empowerment.
This award, named after a dedicated Soroptimist Seattle member, is special to the Seattle club. The $5,000 award is granted to women who are a single parent or head of household, pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree, who live in the Puget Sound Region.

2. Live Your Dream! Award
This award provides monetary assistance to women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families. Each year, more than $2.4 million in education grants are awarded to over 1,500 women, worldwide, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles. Soroptimist Seattle-Metro gives awards based on the need and quality of the application. The SISM club award is $5,000. Winners at the club level are automatically considered for the regional level award. Award amounts vary.

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans program honors the contributions of immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States. Each year, the foundation invests in the graduate education of 30 New Americans—immigrants and children of immigrants—who are poised to make significant contributions to US society, culture or their academic field. Each Fellow receives up to $90,000 in financial support over two years, and they join a lifelong community of New American Fellows.
UW undergrads and alumni planning for future graduate study, and current graduate students, in all fields who meet the eligibility criteria should learn about this program, and join us for the UW information session, hosted by the Soros Foundation team and featuring 2024 Soros Fellows Michael Yusov (UW alum), Leslie Ponce-Diaz and Michael Xie.

The UW Resilience Lab and the Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF) are pleased to share the 2024 Resilience and Compassion Seed Grant cycle is accepting applications! The application form will remain open until Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Seed grants support impactful activities, programming, projects and/or applied research that align with the following goals of the Resilience Lab and the CSF:

The Benefits Hub is partnering with Seattle Credit Union* to provide financial education opportunities to students. Over the course of 6 months, students will participate in financial capability opportunities, including coaching and workshops, and save between $16-42 per month with their new financial skills. When you complete the program requirements you will receive a 2:1 match of up to $250 saved, for a total savings of $750 (max $500 match + $250 saved by you).

The Seattle Relief Fund is $16,000,000 of funding for direct cash assistance to Seattle’s most vulnerable low-income residents and their households who have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
You are not eligible for this Fund if you’ve received payment from the Seattle COVID-19 Disaster Relief Fund for Immigrants in September or October of 2021.
You can apply to the Seattle Relief Fund only if you meet income eligibility requirements and one of these situations applies to you or a member in your household:

For example, if you are applying for a family of four, and your household total monthly income is less than $4,821, then your family is eligible.
Funds are available to eligible applicants even if they are undocumented.

WHEEL (Women’s Housing Equality Enhancement League) Shelters
$17 per hour
WHEEL (www.wheelforwomen.org) is a dynamic, grassroots organizing effort of homeless/formerly homeless women. We facilitate two loving, 24-hour, low-barrier shelters women on First Hill. We’re looking for level-headed, kind-hearted, reliable strong women to staff our shelters, and perhaps do fill-in shifts (day, evening, overnight).
Most Urgent Need: Day Shift and On-Call Staff; some overnight shifts are also available.
Duties: Intakes and welcoming women, managing referrals, keeping the peace, set-up, meal service, light cleaning, and informal resource-sharing. We work cooperatively with our host site and other space users to ensure that the building and its users are not adversely impacted by the shelter program.
Skills: Reliability, patience, communication and conflict mediation skills, and commitment to teamwork. Previous experience with homeless/low-income service work is very helpful, but not required.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17 per hour; medical benefits after 3 months for those working full-time

The University of Washington Upward Bound program is seeking graduate students to serve as quiz section leaders for the virtual Upward Bound Summer Academy. The course, College Success: An Introduction to Academic Essentials, is designed to introduce students to skills and resources needed to be a successful college student. Monica Viharo, Doctoral Candidate, UW School of Drama will serve as the instructor.
When: Classes run Monday, June 28-Friday, August 6. No classes on July 5, 16, 23, and 30 due to fieldtrips and holidays. The class will be offered from 10:00 a.m.-10:50 a.m. Quiz sections leaders will be on-line from 9:45-11. Quiz section leaders will also hold office hours and attend staff meetings.
Responsibilities: Attend the class; lead small group discussions and activities; grade assignments in Canvas; develop some lesson plans related to your field’s academic essentials, and create a positive learning environment for students.
Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or graduate school attendance, and instructional experience at the secondary or/post-secondary level. Experience teaching low-income/first-generation college students desired.
Time Commitment and Compensation: Approximately 15 hours a week. $29/hour.
