Preparing for Practicum: SSW Office of Field Education

DAY 1, EDP2, and BASW students preparing for placement, please see the Office of Field Education’s announcement below:

Dear MSW EDP, DAY and BASW Students! The Office of Field Education extends our very best wishes to all of you as you bring closure to Autumn Quarter and for a safe and healthy winter break. Please find the following link to 2025/2026 Placement Process Information. You can also navigate to this page from our canvas main page, which is where you will find the practicum placement timeline, information sessions and other reminders regarding the winter placement round for securing your practicum for academic year 2025-2026. Reminders:

• CWTAP: This placement process does not apply to students accepted into CWTAP, please attend their information session in January to learn more about their process.
• Practicum Placement Information Sessions:
  • Veterans Administration: multiple info sessions will be held starting this week and into January. Please find their info listed on the canvas page and on the attached document.
    • The VA will only take students going into their Specialized year
    • The application process for the VA differs greatly from other community partners. We will keep everyone informed if any other agencies set earlier application deadlines.
  • All other Specialization and Traineeship Practicum Placement Information Sessions’ Information in the link above.
• Field Faculty Assignments
  • EDP students – If you are not certain which Field Faculty you are working with please email sswfield@uw.edu
  • Day Students – you will learn which Field Faculty you are assigned to in January after completing the specialization survey sent by the MSW program office
  • BASW Students – your Field Faculty for next year will be Saul Tran Cornwall.
