Dr. Patrick is the Director of the Seattle Quality of Life Group and is Professor of Health Services at the University of Washington School of Public Health. Throughout his career, he has worked on health status assessment and quality of life, including applications to chronic illness and disability, health promotion, evaluation, and developing health-related quality of life measures for specific conditions and populations.

Dr. Edwards is a Research Assistant Professor in Health Services at the University of Washington School of Public Health, and a founding member of the Seattle Quality of Life Group. His research interests include development and validation of patient and observer-reported measures of signs/symptoms, function, and quality of life across a broad range of populations and health conditions, and the application of these measures to assessment of treatment outcomes. Dr. Edwards is also involved in work developing and applying patient aids for supporting treatment decisions.

Carmen Velasquez is a Center Manager of Health Services Research Programs in Health Services at the University of Washington School of Public Health. She works to provide management and support to establish and ensure effective program operations for all of the externally funded research located at this research site.

Nelly Ayala is a Research Scientist for the Seattle Quality of Life Group. She works closely with the Patient Reported Outcomes Measurements Information Systems (PROMIS) research related to infectious diseases. She works in the development of new assessment tools that measure patient-reported health status. Her research interests lie in the fields of pediatrics and cardiovascular disease prevention via a public health engineering model. She graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Chemical Engineering, focus on quality control research. Entered the University of Washington, School of medicine prior to changing fields and gaining a Masters in Nursing.
