Lecture: Monsters in Literature Medusa

This year's lecture is all about monsters! Taught by Dr. Christina Roberts, this class discusses why monsters exists and the psychology behind the idea of monsters. In fact, we humans are the ones who have created monsters through our own imaginations. Yes, it's true! From this class, we learned that humans needed some evil in life to balance things out. Monsters, or 'evil,' are intertwined with humans, or 'good.' We talked about good vs evil, Chthonic vs Olympian, and the archetypal masculine vs feminine. Obviously, we learned some new vocabulary as well. Chthonic's definition is primitive, dark and mysterious, while Olympian is godlike, majestic, exalted, and celestial. Archetype is like the prototype of something. It's the original pattern, a model from which all other things of the same kind are made.

As you can tell, this class was a very complicated class. It made us think deeper and harder. It was a very thoughtful class, relating to psychology of humans' minds and the way we think. We worked our butts off...along with our brains!
