Disability Resources for Students

Foster School of Business Writing Skills Assessment (WSA) Accommodations

Application Process

The student should visit the Foster School web page for information about the WSA including deadlines and forms.

Approval of disability accommodations for the WSA

  • If the student is already registered for services through the Disability Resources for Students (DRS) office, they should have received an email from our office, through the myDRS system, shortly after their Access Planning Meeting. A copy of the email will be located in their myDRS Mailbox and is entitled: [DRS] Eligibility for Academic Adjustments and Accommodations.  This email can be printed and submitted to the Business School. It should meet the Business School’s need for the stated ‘academic accommodations plan’.
  • If the student has not yet made contact with the DRS office but has had accommodations approved at another campus they attended, they can provide a copy of the academic accommodation plan from that college, university or high school directly to the Business School. This would only address accommodations for the WSA and will not necessarily apply beyond the WSA. The student should be seen at DRS to discuss accommodations applicable to their academic courses.
  • If the student has never been approved for disability accommodations, they will need to submit their documentation to DRS via the myDRS website and be seen for an Access Planning Meeting (APM). If the student is not in the Seattle area, a phone APM may be possible.

Taking the WSA in the Foster Business School OR at DRS

Some accommodations can be handled within the Foster Business School. However, some accommodations – such as use of a computer or other adaptive equipment – will need to be scheduled at DRS. When testing needs to take place at DRS, the following process will apply:

  • The Business school will contact DRS to verify they have approved of the application.
  • The DRS Testing Center will then contact the student to set up a time to take the WSA, in consideration of available equipment and space. DRS Testing Center can be reached at drstest@uw.edu.
