UW Community Fashion Expo
HAL created this public program as a celebration of identity through fashion centering Queer, Trans, Black, and Indigenous People of Color (QTBIPOC) who are often marginalized as creators and artists within historical museum settings.
To liven the space with the UW student community’s creativity and desire for activism, we are collaborating with registered student organizations Modality and Indigenous Students of Latin America to highlight their work through tabling and interactive activities. Recent UW graduates and fashion designers Archie Sugiyama and Elena Qiu will also be onsite kicking off the event with a mini-fashion show featuring live models wearing their designs. They will be present throughout the expo to share more about their creative practices!
It will surely be an exciting afternoon of artmaking, conversation, and community building! Everyone is invited to “wear who you are” and dawn your favorite outfit!
Admission is free and masks are highly encouraged.
