reminder that the SSW Mixed/Multiracial Affinity Group will be meeting February 6th from 6pm-7pm. You can access the Zoom link using your UW NetID.

 Ongoing meetings will be held on the 1st Monday of the month from 6pm-7pm, via Zoom; this is so that the Day and EDP student, faculty & staff community can participate from wherever we may be during that time.

 If you’re not able to attend meetings this quarter or would like to be added to the listserv for information sharing and informal meetup notifications, please send us your name and UW email to sswmixed@uw.edu.

 

Fellowship opportunities:

For the 2023-24 academic year, a one-quarter fellowship will be awarded to a grad/prof student.  (See UWRA Pat Dougherty Fellowship in Aging for details.)  Deadline Feb 15th, only to DAY students (EDP not eligible).

Available for Spring Quarter 2023 is a $4000 need-based scholarship for educational expenses for undergrads as well as grad/prof students who have experience in working with elders and wish to pursue research and/or careers to serve older adults.  UWRA Scholarship in Aging  Deadline Feb 15th

The Hooyman Intergenerational Fellowship is a merit-based scholarship for students committed to working with older adults and their families. Award amounts range from $1000 to $2000. More Info here: Hooyman Fellowship2023. Deadline May 5th

 

With the two recent shootings and ongoing violence impacting the Asian American community, we are hosting a space for people to process and build community. Participants will create a luminary jars in remembrance of loved ones as a process of healing and remembrance in addition to space to listen, share and learn from one another.

“Tea Time Talk: Asian American Mental Health and Healing” Event

  • Place: Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center (ECC) Asian Room – 3rd Floor

 Join us for a cup of Tea and sweets as we want to make room for Asian American voices and needs, and create healing space for conversations about how racism and violence impacts Asian American mental health.
