As a consortium of educational institutions, we view students as our most powerful asset…after all they are our future. For this reason our center devotes significant amounts of both energy and financial aid to students in a variety of ways:
Student Projects and Research: Our consortium universities attract some of the best and brightest young minds from around the country and the world to study and conduct research at our institutions. PacTrans student researchers are well decorated, regularly being honored with a variety of prestigious awards.
Student Activities: Consortium universities offer a broad array of student group opportunities such as the ASCE concrete canoe and steel bridge competition teams. Further, our universities are regularly offering students the opportunity to explore potential career options through site visits across the transportation sector.
PacTrans Graduate Fellowship: Each year our universities offer competitive fellowship opportunities to ensure that we continue to secure the best and brightest students from across the country and the world.
PacTrans Undergraduate Research Fellowship: An opportunity that provides an avenue for undergraduates interested in getting transportation research experience under the official supervision of PacTrans faculty. It also exposes them to the world of academic research and provides them with a preview of what graduate school could look like in their future.
Financial Aid for Conferences: Beyond financial support for their educations, PacTrans offers additional funding for students to attend, and participate in, conferences, seminars, and workshops around the world such as the annual Transportation Research Board Meeting, the IEEE Smart Cities Conference, and others.
Seminars: PacTrans organizes and hosts a quarter Regional Transportation Seminar along with a variety of other seminars throughout the years with invited speakers from all over the world to present their work to our students.
