My research explores the relationship between class identities, ideas of nation and citizenship and racial notions in Argentina. In other words, the interconnection of narratives of personal and class superiority, national “progress” and ethnic identities and stereotypes. As a historian, my work focuses mainly on printed sources of different types –from newspapers, books and magazines, to parliamentary debates and political tracts– but also on “visual culture” (photos, films, public performances) and music. As part of my interest, I have also worked on the theoretical and methodological issues related to middle class studies from a critical perspective.
