PAID OPPORTUNITY: Action Academy

What Is Action Academy?

Action Academy is a 10-week, paid Summer civic leadership program run by the nonprofit
Common Power Future that empowers college students with civic engagement and
leadership development education from experts. The program offers a unique blend of
historical insights, community organizing, and political education. Students engage twice a
week with professors, partner organizations, and Common Power staff via Zoom sessions.

Funding: $1,000 stipend

Time Commitment: 2 zoom sessions a week (for 10 weeks)

Action Academy students:
– Gain a substantial understanding of voting rights history
– Learn from mentors about visionary leadership & civic action
– Build media literacy skills for consumption of information
– Undertake engagement with elected officials and voters
– Community-centered organizing
– Leadership development in teams
