Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP): Upcoming Webinars

Dear Colleagues, Prehealth Advisors, Partners, Collaborators, and Applicants,

The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) staff makes every effort to provide as much information as we can to help SHPEP applicants understand the application process. Therefore, we understand the importance of regularly updating the prehealth community about our program given the integral role you play in the lives of college students. On behalf of the SHPEP National Program Office (NPO), we’re excited to share our webinar schedule that is designed to assist students through the SHPEP application process.

SHPEP webinars are always recorded and posted on the SHPEP YouTube channel within a week of the live session. Please subscribe to our channel to receive important and timely information regarding SHPEP and the health professions.  Follow SHPEP on social media!

SHPEP is a FREE six-week transformative summer experience for college freshman and sophomore students interested in the health professions. The program offers opportunities to explore health careers, including dentistry, medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, and public health. SHPEP scholars have a legacy of success: over 65% of scholars who apply to medical and dental schools are accepted.

The personal statement is a crucial part of SHPEP applications. It’s your chance to show what makes you unique. In around 600 words, you have to convince your chosen program that you are the best applicant and that they should make you an offer immediately. These words are a crucial part of your application and chance for consideration, so your personal statement needs to be good. Really good. During this session, the University of Nebraska Medical Center SHPEP Program Site will share some tips on how to write a truly outstanding piece.   Register Here
