The SAFE Project

If you are 18-22 years old, identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color, and/or as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and attended a public high school with a school counselor in the U.S., please keep reading!

We are currently recruiting participants for a research project to explore ways in which Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and/or Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Questioning/Queer, plus (LGBTQ+) community members accessed their high school counseling resources (i.e., individual or group mental health services, crisis management, at-home concerns, referral for community-based services, or systemic barriers they faced at schools) and how satisfied they were with the services. (This project was approved by Western Washington University’s Institutional Review Board: #4751EX22).

We are NOT recruiting current high school students, rather, we are recruiting participants between the ages of 18-22, who identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+, and attended a public high school that had at least one school counselor. If you meet the criteria above and/or know folks who do, please visit and/or share this email and the link to our survey and consent form: https://wwu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8kRNjspuwG0nr2S [nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com]

You will be asked to complete a survey that should take less than 25 minutes.

Participants will receive a $20 Amazon gift card as compensation for participating (funding is for the first 100 participants). Those who fully complete the survey will be entered in a drawing for 1 of 5 $100 Amazon gift cards!
