Domestic travel awards provide an average award of $500 to support UW faculty participation in academic conferences, research/teaching linkages, and curriculum and professional development in the United States. Preference is given to activities that can show a clear and substantial impact on UW Global Studies teaching and research. Funding is also available for language faculty to participate in ACTFL training and related language pedagogy professional development. UW librarians are also eligible to apply for a travel grant for purposes of professional development that support global studies teaching, research, and professional development. Funding requests should be submitted via e-mail and include the name and dates of the activity (including a link to the conference website as appropriate) and an explanation of how participation in this event will support the faculty’s research and professional development. Please also attach a current CV.

A limited number of international travel awards (maximum $2,000) to support UW faculty participation in academic conferences, research/teaching linkages, and curriculum and professional development internationally. Preference is given to activities that can demonstrate impact on UW Global Studies teaching and research across multiple dimensions (e.g. research and curriculum development). Funding requests should be submitted via e-mail and include the name and dates of the activity (including a link to the conference website as appropriate) and an explanation of how participation in this event will support the faculty’s research and professional development. Please also attach a current CV. Please note that all international travel using Center for Global Studies funding requires pre-approval from our U.S. Department of Education program officer. All travel approvals must be submitted at least 30 days in advance of travel.

Applications and any additional questions should be submitted by February 15th to cgsuw@uw.edu. Please note that these grants are not intended as course development grants. The Center for Global Studies will be announcing a separate call for proposals for course development grants for UW faculty later in Winter Quarter.
