UW Records Management Services: Student Assistant Job Posting!

Student Assistant Job Description

We are a compliance office for the UW. We hire students to support the University Records Center, where we store and protect the paper records for other University departments across all three campuses.

Student Assistants help us manage boxes of records received at our facility. When an office wants a folder or box back, our students retrieve the item and mail them back to the originating department. When boxes have passed their legally-approved retention period, our students pull them off the shelves and sort into shredding or recycling bins. This is a physical job, but not unpleasant.

We are located at the old Sand Point Navy Base, which is now Magnuson Park. We are on Sand Point Way and NE 74th street. Parking is free.

Requirements:

— Able to lift 45lbs and stand for long periods of time

— Able to work without constant supervision

— Currently enrolled student at the University of Washington

— Live locally, as this position does not offer remote work

The job is physical. Duties include:

— Pulling boxes and disposing of contents as part of the disposition process

— Shelving of boxes at the University Records Center

— Retrieval and refile of individual folder and box requests

We are looking for the most responsible student we can find. We welcome work study eligible students for this position, but work study is not necessary Students who succeed in this position are self-starters with strong attention to detail, who are comfortable working in a quiet environment.
