1980 Summary Tape File 1 (STF 1) for WA

1980 Summary Tape File 1 (STF 1) were tabulated from the “complete count” or “100-percent” questions. Housing items tabulated include occupancy/vacancy status, tenure, contract rent, value, condominium status, number of rooms, and plumbing facilities. Population items include demographic information such as age, sex, race, marital status, Spanish origin, household relationship, and household type.STF1 is released as file 1A, file 1B, file 1C, and file 1D. The record layout is identical for all four files but the geographic coverage differs.

1980 STF 1A provides summaries for state or state equivalent and their sub areas in hierarchical sequence down to census tract or block numbering area (BNA), and block group (BG) or BG segment or enumeration district (ED). 1980 STF 1B provides summaries for state or state equivalent and their sub areas in hierarchical sequence down to census tract or block numbering area (BNA), or portion of tract (BNA) within place, and block or enumeration district (ED). 1980 STF 1C provides summaries for the United States as a whole, the geographic hierarchical sequence down to places of 10,000 or more people, minor civil divisions of 10,000 or more, and congressional districts. The number of data records in each file varies by state. 1980 STF 1D summaries for state or state equivalent, congressional district (as constituted for the 98th Congress), county or county equivalent, places of 10,000 or more people, and minor civil divisions (MCD) or census county divisions (CCD).

1980 Summary Tape File3 (STF 3) for WA

The STF 3 files contain sample data inflated to represent the total United States population. Population items tabulated for each person include demographic data and information on schooling, ethnicity, labor force status, and children, as well as details on occupation and income. Housing items include size and condition of the housing unit as well as information on value, age, water, sewage and heating, vehicles, and monthly owner costs. 1980 STF3 is released as file 3A, file 3B, file 3C, and file 3D as well. The record layout is identical for all four files but the geographic coverage differs.

1980 STF 3A provides summaries for state or state equivalent and their sub areas in hierarchical sequence down to census tract or block numbering area (BNA), and block group (BG) or BG segment or enumeration district (ED). 1980 STF 3B provides summaries for each 5-digit ZIP-code area within a state, and for 5-digit ZIP-code areas within states that were contained within Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas (SMSAs), portions of SMSAs, or within counties, county portions, or county equivalents. 1980 STF 3C provides summaries for the United States as a whole, the geographic hierarchical sequence down to places of 10,000 or more people, minor civil divisions of 10,000 or more, and congressional districts. The number of data records in each file varies by state. 1980 STF 3D summaries for state or state equivalent, congressional district (as constituted for the 98th Congress), county or county equivalent, places of 10,000 or more people, and minor civil divisions (MCD) or census county divisions (CCD).
