ONE health spring 2016

Zika, Ebola, MERS, SARS and other new diseases from wild and domestic animals are emerging as a result of agriculture intensification, habitat loss, and climate change. Wildlife and domestic animals, like the “canary in the coalmine,” can provide early warning of environmental hazards.  “One Health” is a transdisciplinary systems concept connecting human, animal, and environmental health to address emerging disease challenges.

Through a case-based approach, the course will explore integrated approaches to assessment and control of a number of health issues at the human-animal-environment interface.
