Painting + Drawing Lecture by Michael Knutson

Michael Knutson (BFA 1972) will speak on Thursday, 03 March 2011, at 5:30pm in Art 317 about his recent paintings. He received an MFA from Yale University School of Art, and he is currently teaching painting, drawing, and printmaking as a Professor of Art at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Knutson’s work has been exhibited nationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and it has been included in publications such as Artweek, The Oregonian, and The New York Times. He is represented by both the Blackfish Gallery in Portland, Oregon, and by Greg Kucera Gallery in Seattle. Knutson is a recipient of the Betty Bowen Memorial Special Recognition Award, a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist Grant, and an Alice Kimball English Traveling Fellowship. He has twice been selected for the Juror’s Award at the Oregon Biennial.
