Alexander Nemerov with George Ault painting; photo from Smithsonian Magazine websiteJoin visiting lecturer Alexander Nemerov, the Vincent Scully Professor of the History of Art at Yale University, for a unique look into the work of George Ault and 1940s America. The lecture, at 7pm on Thursday, 17 November 2011, in the Henry Art Gallery Auditorium, draws from an exhibition and accompanying book titled To Make a World: George Ault and 1940s America, which were curated and written by Nemerov. The exhibition premiered at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in March 2011, is currently showing at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and will also visit the Georgia Museum of Art. This event is part of the Allan and Mary Kollar Lectures on American Art and Artists presented by the Division of Art History in the School of Art. Free tickets may be reserved online.
