Application Status Page Update – WA State Residency

In order to better serve our students, we’ve added a new field on the Application Status and Pre-Registration Pages:

1. Graduate Application Status Page (Shown to Received Status applicants):

Washington State Residency Status: [Nonresident / Resident]
If your residency status is incorrect, please contact Graduate Enrollment Management Services (GEMS) at uwgrad@uw.edu. Prior to contacting GEMS, please read the residency website for information on residency requirements.

2. Graduate Application Pre-Registration Page (Shown to Offer Accepted – Enrollment Paid Status students):

Washington State Residency Status: [Nonresident / Resident]
If your residency status is incorrect, please contact the UW Residency Office. Prior to contacting the UW Residency Office, please read the residency website for information on residency requirements.

Whether or not a student is flagged as a Washington State Resident is driven by how the applicant answers the below question:

Washington State Residency – indicate your current period of residence in Washington:

  1. I am not a WA State Resident
  2. Less than 12 months
  3. 12 or more months

A Washington resident who answers this question incorrectly may be assessed out-of-state tuition. If you have any questions about these changes, please email gemshelp@uw.edu.
