Additional English Updates: Duolingo and Medium of Instruction
Following up on our November 20 blog post, GEMS is pleased to announce additional updates to assist you during the 2021 admissions cycle:
Duolingo English Test:
- The graduate school application’s English proficiency question is revised to read “Official Test Scores” instead of “Official Test Scores (TOEFL/IELTS).” Applicants who are using Duolingo should select “Official Test Scores.”
- The graduate school application’s “Report English Proficiency Test Scores” section now has Duolingo as a test type option. Applicants can self-report their Duolingo scores, which graduate program advisors can see in the submitted application’s “Tests” section.
- If your applicants have questions, please refer them to the COVID-19 Admissions FAQ: Duolingo section.
Medium of Instruction Letter:
- Applicants can now upload their Medium of Instruction letter (if they indicate they will demonstrate English in this manner).
- Program advisors can view this uploaded letter in the graduate applicant detail page, English proficiency section. Click the “View Proof Document” link.
- If your applicants have questions, please refer them to COVID-19 Admissions FAQ: Enrollment Updates section.
