    Cost: $10, register by phone or email (limited to 15 participants). A local mecca of plant diversity, with many rare species planted by Gil Schieber & Seattle Tilth gardeners. This tour will include both wild (weedy) & planted species of trees, shrubs, vines, perennials & annuals. The Tilth garden & adjacent P-Patch will be full of luxurious produce to admire.     Skagit Valley is home to 3 demonstration gardens on 8 acres, operated by volunteers as a learning resource for the public. See plants chosen to perform well in the Pacific NW. Learn about effective garden practices, soil health, composting, pollinators, fruit tree pruning, native plants, weed identification & more. Katherine will acquaint you with some of her favorite selections, offer fresh ideas for their use in the garden as well as in container combinations, vertical gardens, wreaths & floral arranging. She’ll also discuss propagation, proper soil mixes, indoor care & tips on how to address humid outdoor growing conditions. Katherine has been experimenting with the unexpected on the grounds of Avant Gardens. She is also a garden photographer, writer & a lecturer.
