The Keck Center is primarily self-service, and so consideration for other Keck Center users, and responsible use of the equipment by Keck Center users, is essential.
Keck Center users demonstrating a disregard for or lack of such consideration may be penalized as follows:
- Microscope and/or microscope area left unclean : $25 fee
- System left on overnight: 1-hour charge at the system’s standard rate
- Cancellation (day of): 1-hour charge at the system’s standard rate (exceptions may be made for emergency circumstances)
- No-show (day of): 1-hour minimum charge, or charge equal to total length of reserved time if reservation is not cancelled and the system goes unused (workdays 9am-5pm)
- Lateness (day of): Time starts when the reservation starts. Reservation start times may not be moved day-of without permission from the Keck Center Manager
- Unauthorized user: 3-month loss of Keck Center privileges for whomever “trained” the unauthorized user, and the entire lab may lose their privileges if the offender cannot be established
Unauthorized usage will be handled directly with the PI For all other problems, the first instance will be handled between the user and the Keck Center Manager and subsequent instances will include the user’s PI.
Repetitive and habitual problems may result in loss of Keck Center privileges.
If you find a microscope that has been misused or left on, please let the Keck Center Manager know right away.
