The Fourth Annual Meeting, September 22, 2011

Business Meeting: The business meeting included welcoming our 24 new members.

Lunch: WSAS member, Subhash Singhal, from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, introduced the guest teachers, students and Science Fair organizers. A special thank you to The Apex Foundation, The Boeing Co., Microsoft Research Connections, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Battelle, and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories that sponsored our visiting teachers and students. The WSAS staff received many thank you's from the teachers and students for their invitation to participate in the event.

Symposium: Governor Christine Gregoire opened the Symposium with a video greeting. The speakers engaged the audience in several discussions of what WSAS can contribute to improving STEM education in Washington State. Senator Rosemary McAuliffe, Chair of the Washington State Senate Early Learning and K-12 Education Committee, contributed a legislator's perspective.

Dinner Speaker: The long informative day culminated with an inspirational speech from Brad Smith, Microsoft General Counsel and Chair of Washington Higher Education Funding Task Force.
