Selection

The first step in material section is to know the purpose of your design and to define material requirements for that design In the material selection process you will apply your defined project requirements to limiting materials that can be chosen for this design by using the CES software. To select limits for your materials simply, choose the > select button from the toolbar. Then pick a selection stage from the Selection Criteria sub-window and design your material limits by:

  • Using a Graph Stage that compares two materials properties against each other. In which you can define selections of the graph to be your limiting factors.

  • Using the Limit Stage to input known limits for the material to reduce the amount of materials acceptable according to the specific property and property ranking.

  • Using the Tree Stage to limit by adding additional requirements to the selection by linking other data tables to the current data table.

Check out a example project that shows the selection process in CES using 3-choices: Limit, Graph, and Tree stages
