Speech-Language Evaluation

Speech-language evaluations include assessment of receptive language (language understanding) and expressive language (language use), social communication, play, and speech skills. Our speech-language pathologists gather information through parent report, observation, formal assessments, and structured interactions to generate a comprehensive evaluation of each child’s language and communication abilities based on presenting concerns and observations.

Initial recommendations are discussed in person and a detailed evaluation report is provided for use at home, school, or individual speech and language therapy. These reports include a summary of performance on testing and other measures, individual goals, recommendations for therapy, and discussion of related concerns (e.g., referrals to other disciplines like applied behavior analysis, occupational therapy, physical therapy). Speech-language therapy services are available at our Seattle and Tacoma clinics.
