Social Skills Groups

The UW Autism Center is excited to offer social skills groups, for a variety of ages. Group treatment provides an opportunity for autistic children to learn skills in a natural setting with maximum support for generalization. Social skills are taught through evidence-based techniques that include video modeling, role playing, and incidental teaching. Clinicians embed teaching in play activities and use positive behavior support to maintain the interest and motivation of the children throughout the session. Social skills groups typically meet once per week for 60 to 90 minutes, and run for 10 to 12 weeks.
