Research: The University of Washington Autism Center (UWAC) collaborates with families, people with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and typical development to conduct research that will lead to better outcomes for people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their families. The UWAC was founded in 2000 and is one of the first autism centers in the country to provide clinical services, professional training, and conduct internationally recognized research under one roof. We serve infants, toddlers, preschool and school-aged children, adolescents, and adults with ASD. The UW Autism Center is recognized as an Autism Center of Excellence by the National Institutes of Health and is engaged in several national and international collaborations in addition to several independent projects researching ASD. Funding support comes from private foundations and the National Institutes of Health. |
