2024
HATC received state funding to expand prevention services in K-12 schools and SANE training to include DV strangulation
2023
HATC celebrated 50 years of service.
2022
HATC received federal funds to launch a TeleSANE program that provides training and consultation to SANEs serving rural communities throughout WA state.
2022
HATC launched its Mobile Advocacy program that enables social workers to provide information, referral, and advocacy services to underserved communities.
2021
HATC contracted with Osborne and Associates to provide a race equity agency assessment and develop a Diversity Race Equity 3-year Strategic Plan.
2020
We changed our name to Harborview Abuse & Trauma Center (HATC).
2017
Harborview developed WASafe.org website for medical providers and victims of sexual assault. Website resources include WA State medical sexual assault guidelines as well as links to sexual assault medical/forensic resources and training opportunities.
2015
Harborview developed Athletes as Leaders program for high school athletes on girls' sports teams.
2009- 2016
Harborview SANE program expanded to include Swedish First Hill; Seattle Children's medical Center; and UWMC.
2006
Designated as a King County Crime Victim Service Center. Harborview provides victim centered services to victims of crime.
2006
Awarded funding to provide statewide CBT+ training through the Department of Behavioral Health Resources (DBHR). Training has been ongoing since 2006.
2000
Harborview Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program was developed.
1998
Awarded the statewide Foster Care Assessment Program by DSHS.
1997
Accredited as a Community Sexual Assault Program through the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy. Accreditation has been on-going since initial accreditation.
1997
Developed training content for the Statewide Investigation and Interview Training in conjunction with the Criminal Justice Training Commission and DSHS.
1995
Received funding for providing crime related traumatic stress counseling.
1988
Statewide Medical Training Program was developed. The Medical Training Program has been in continued existence through various states, federal and local funds.
1980
Served as one of five National Training Institutes on establishing community services for sexually abused children.
1973
The Center was one of the first programs in the country to respond to the needs of sexual assault victims. The program initially addressed the emergency needs of rape victims.
