Enhance Fitness: Partnering to improve community health

Kenzie Lock

The Enhance Fitness program was highlighted in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s PRC Issue Brief. Issue briefs summarize key findings, recommendations, and implications of research conducted by various PRCs. They typically focus on specific public health issues or topics, providing evidence-based insights and actionable information for policymakers, public health professionals, and other stakeholders. This most recent Issue Brief focuses on partnership to improve community health.

For over 20 years, HPRC has partnered with Sound Generations on Enhance Fitness, an evidence-based group exercise program for older adults. The program improves the functional fitness and well-being of older adults by combining aerobic exercise, strength training, flexibility, and balance exercises in a supportive and social environment. Learn more about their partnership from Paige Denison, Director of Health, Wellness, and Project Enhance at Sound Generations, and Marlana Kohn, HPRC research scientist.
