The University of Washington’s Astrobiology Program is committed to introducing the field of astrobiology to the next generation of Washingtonians. Astrobiology with the Mobile Planetarium (ABMP) is a program that brings a mobile planetarium to K-12 audiences throughout the state, teaching them about life on Earth and the search for life in the universe. UW astrobiologists present a customized planetarium show that uses the World Wide Telescope format so that participants “fly” through the Solar System, the Milky Way Galaxy, and the edge of the Universe. During a typical day, we reach 7-8 groups of 25-30 students each, presenting the show, describing our experiences as professional scientists, and promoting the pursuit of a college education.
