The University of Washington’s Astrobiology Program is committed to introducing the field of astrobiology to the next generation of Washingtonians. Astrobiology with the Mobile Planetarium (ABMP) is a program that brings a mobile planetarium to K-12 audiences throughout the state, teaching them about life on Earth and the search for life in the universe. UW astrobiologists present a customized planetarium show that uses the World Wide Telescope format so that participants “fly” through the Solar System, the Milky Way Galaxy, and the edge of the Universe. During a typical day, we reach 7-8 groups of 25-30 students each, presenting the show, describing our experiences as professional scientists, and promoting the pursuit of a college education.

You can learn more about the Mobile Planetarium on the UW Astronomy Department’s website and learn a little more about the AB Mobile Planetarium in this UW News article highlighting the program!

The ABMP is managed by Rory Barnes. You can download the show here. Please contact him if you would like more information on this program.
