I am originally from Miami, Florida and went to school there at Florida International University. From my undergraduate degree in marine biology to my experience and enthusiasm for field research in remote areas such as the Arctic and Antarctic, I have a history of being fascinated by life in hard to reach habitats. In my graduate work, I am transferring many of the research skills I learned studying zooplankton physiology in the past, and switching kingdoms from animalia to archaea. I am so excited to work on a different scale of organisms and investigate why they are so successful in the seemingly most uninviting extreme environments. I hope that my work here can eventually help inform the search for life elsewhere.

Outside of school I enjoy SCUBA diving weekly with my friends, reading or listening to audiobooks, playing flight sim with the husky flying club, and backpacking in the beautiful pacific northwest wilderness!
