Greta Shum

Greta Shum is currently a postdoc on the EU project, SPARCCLE in Brussels, Belgium. The project is focused on building climate risk assessment tools to inform economic and social policy in the EU. She works with Wim Thiery in the Water and Climate department at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), and her personal work is focused on climate and impact modeling and model emulation.

Greta Shum graduated with a PhD from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at UW and a recipient of the UW Astrobiology Program’s Graduate Certificate. Shum studied the Earth’s climate system and specifically the relationship between plants and the atmosphere.

Before coming to graduate school, Shum worked as a science communicator with particular interests in climate change and energy technologies.
