Astrobiology area of interest: Calcite U-Pb dating of Cambro-Ordovician microbialites.

I grew up in Hong Kong and completed my B.A. in Geosciences at CU Boulder where I then worked as a research assistant. My research at CU included working on anaerobic rock-hosted life in Samail Ophiolite of Oman, low-temperature apatite thermochronology of the Colorado High Plains, and U-Pb dating via LA-ICPMS.

At UW, my research with Dr Marjorie Cantine combines all these interests to look at calcite U-Pb dating of Cambro-Ordovician microbialites in Newfoundland. Through the use of Laser-Ablation ICP-MS, we can get high spatial resolution to explore the effects microbes have on the rock record and geochronology.

In my free time, I love to climb and hike (I can’t get enough of rocks).
