Site Onboarding Tasks

Please read these instructions VERY carefully and completely as VA credentialing has very specific requirements and timelines. For housing, contact the UWSOM WWAMI office.

Boise VAMC

Credentialing Contact: Cody McGee | Cody.McGee@va.gov | (P) 208-422-1000 ext. 7103

No less than six weeks prior to the start of the rotation (or soon if requested by the site), contact Cody McGee in the Boise VA Education Division for required paperwork and to arrange fingerprinting for a federal background check. This is extremely time sensitive as it can take up to four weeks for background checks to be processed. If you are not near a VA facility, arrangements can be made to send you a manual fingerprint card. The Boise VA will not issue an ID badge or grant computer access until all components of onboarding are complete.

If you have previously been issued a VA ID badge, let Cody know when you were fingerprinted and which VA facility the ID badge was issues at.

Additional Details for Boise VA onboarding:

Student credentialing and onboarding for clerkships that rotate through the Boise VA Medical Center are now handled via myClinicalExchange, a web-based platform. The Idaho WWAMI office will add the rotation dates to myClinicalExchange and the medical center team will then approve the rotation and review any onboarding documents within that system.

There will be a cost to create an account to use the program.

All scheduling will continue be completed through the UWSOM’s registrar’s office, so you should not be making any changes to or requesting rotations in myClinicalExchange.

Letter of Good Standing

Letters of Good Standing may be required as a part of your credentialing. These letters are available to students in eValue under “Personal Records Requirements”.

TB Testing

This site may require proof of a negative TB test(s). Even though this is no longer a requirement of the UWSOM, students are required to comply with any site specific TB testing requirements. Please contact the site coordinator to inquire if a TB test is required.
