Site Onboarding Tasks

No less than twelve weeks prior to the start of the rotation (or sooner if requested by site), contact the site coordinator as soon as possible to begin onboarding. Madigan Army Medical Center requires extensive credentialing prior to the start of the rotation so it is extremely important to be diligent and timely with all on boarding tasks. The entire process can take up to 120 days. All communication and instructions from the staff at Madigan are extremely time sensitive. Please confirm what documentation is needed for any appointment. Failure to provide necessary documentation or identification can significantly delay the onboarding process. You may be contacted with specific onboarding tasks and appointments, in addition to the below requirements.

Housing for Madigan Army Medical Center

Student housing is provided by the School of Medicine at Rainier Inn which is located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. A reservation will be made for each student at Rainier Inn and you will receive a reservation confirmation number from the Department of Surgery. For specific accommodation requests or questions about the available amenities of the property, please contact Rainier Inn directly and provide your confirmation number. The School of Medicine will be billed for the room fees however students will be responsible for any additional incidentals/charges incurred beyond the room charges. The hotel is located at:

Directions to JBLM

From I-5 take Exit 120 (Ft. Lewis Main Gate). Proceed to the Visitor Center to obtain a one-day pass to enter post. You will need your vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and a valid driver’s license. Students rotating for more than 30-days will need to return to the Visitor Center after they have been issued their Madigan badge. The badge displays end date and allows for an extended pass to be made. Visitor Center hours are from 6:00am to 10:00pm. After receiving your pass, take a right turn out of the Visitor Center and turn left onto Pendleton Avenue. Proceed to Madigan Army Medical Center and park in any parking lot except designated patient parking areas.
