Evaluation of Walking School Bus Program: A Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial

This study is evaluating the long-term efficacy of a Walking School Bus program to increase low-income, ethnic minority children’s active commuting to school and physical activity. Researchers from the UW Urban Form Lab are contributing to the project by providing data related to the built environment and transportation systems around Seattle school neighborhoods. They are also performing spatial analyses to develop measures of the built environment near the schools and near homes from which walkers originate.
