Please note changes: Currently, there are no scheduled dates for this class/program while OD&T works to align our offerings with organizational priorities, including Mission Forward. If you have any questions or need resources, please contact odtreg@uw.edu.

Selecting “best fit” candidates who are “high performers” is required to create a motivated and skilled workforce that is committed to our mission and can contribute in a positive way to our daily objectives. In order to select excellent candidates, hiring managers must develop their skills in candidate assessment and interviewing.

Participants in this course will:

  • Review “best practices” including structured interview processes and behavioral-based interviews and analyze why these practices lead to more effective hiring processes.
  • Identify and write effective behavioral interview questions. Identify biases, labor issues, and legal issues that can affect the hiring process.
  • Assess behavioral-based interview questions and candidate answers.
  • Review the steps following candidate selection including, checking references, making the offer, and on-boarding new hires.
