BSU Legacy Soiree @ wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House

The Black Student Union Legacy Soiree is an annual formal celebration and banquet that centers around excellence within the black communities at the University of Washington and in the greater Seattle area. The legacy Soiree is also an essential effort in creating a scholarship for underrepresented students, that went live for the first time last year! This year, the Soiree is themed “New Harlem Renaissance”, and will involve a night of live music, performances, honoraria, keynote speakers, catered dinner, and more. The BSU will also be continuing their tradition of recognizing ten exemplary high school students, with the hopes of inspiring them to attend the University of Washington.

Join BSU on Saturday, February 1st at 6:00 PM at the WƎⱢƎBʔALTXʷ INTELLECTUAL HOUSE for an elegant night celebrating black excellence!

BSU Paid Members: $15 (printed, must purchase in person for proof of membership)

What is Let’s Talk?

Let’s Talk is a program that connects UW students with support from experienced counselors from the Counseling Center and Hall Health without an appointment.

Counselors hold drop-in hours at various sites on campus and can help provide insight, solutions and information about other resources. Let’s Talk drop-in visits are free, confidential and there is no appointment necessary.

Let’s Talk offers informal consultation – it is not a substitute for regular therapy, counseling or psychiatric care.

Let’s Talk is supported by UW Parent & Family Programs and the Services & Activities Fee.

Tuesdays, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Little Hong Kong 香港零距離 2020: A Snapshot of the Past @ HUB Ballroom

Little Hong Kong is a great opportunity to experience what it is like to be in Hong Kong. You can find some of the best Cantonese style food and snacks there, along with performances 🎤 and carnival games 🎪 — where winners get to take home prizes! 🎁

Join HKSA at the 🇭🇰2020 Little Hong Kong🇭🇰 to experience a snapshot of Hong Kong in the past here in Seattle.

This audition consists of 2 areas with songs or rap (individual or team) / Dance (individual or team).
This year, Overnight will be held on 8 p.m. on February 15, 2020 at Kane Hall(KNE) 130.
The deadline of this application form is January 12, 2020.
Teach for China Lantern Festival @ School of Social Work, Building 3F

Teach for China will host an annual festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year to allow UW students to experience and immerse in the Lunar New Year atmosphere by providing traditional food and games.Join TFC to participate in cultural activities include lanterns making, Chinese riddles, calligraphy writing, and eating tangyuan (rice dumpling).

All the above activities are essential parts of the festival. For example, tangyuan has a similar pronunciation with “tuanyuan”, which means reunion in Chinese. So everyone eats them to symbolize union, harmony, and happiness for the family. TFC will offer UNLIMITED FREE tangyuan and milk tea, and also send out special gift packs for the game winners! You will be able to learn more about Chinese culture as well!
